The Maserati GranTurismo is back! After going on hiatus in 2019, the ultimate in luxurious high-fashion ultra performance Italian style. In fact, no other Italian sports car comes close to offering what the GranTurismo is all about. It carries on the style it is famous for, yet flexes its wings to take advantage of the latest Italian Super Car offerings. The GranTurismo borrows some inspiration from Maserati’s new MC20 sports car, it marries performance with chic styling. The look is stunning.
The new GranTurismo comes in several flavors. These begin with a detuned version of the MC20’s Nettuno (Neptune) twin-turbocharged V6 engine. Next in line is Maserati’s fully-electric model, the GranTurismo Folgore. Also coming soon is the Maserati GranTurismo GranCabrio (Cabriolet=Convertible).
Historically, the GranTurismo is the descendant of the 1950’s era Maserati A6 Spyder GT. While that classic is rarely seen and usually only at a Concours d’Elegance, the new GranTurismo is available today at a Napleton Maserati dealership near you.
The new GranTurismo is a sleek Italian, complete with race-bred high-performance technology, alluring good looks, and mind-numbing speed. But things are not as they have been: The Ferrari-sourced powertrain is gone. In its place, is the Nettuno V6 engine, which is a proper product of the Maserati engine works.
With the looks of a supermodel, the Maserati GranTurismo continues to deliver unmistakeably Italian style. Totally revised, it rides on an entirely new platform that differs substantially from the previous version. Every body panel is new, and built to accommodate an EV powertrain from the ground up.
A quick glance of the new Maserati GranTurismo will show a vehicle that resembles the outgoing model. But if the newly designed GranTurismo were parked next to the 2019, chances are the differences are instantly recognizable.
The GranTurismo is as subtle as ever with redrawn body lines, longer flanks and a wider stance. It’s a piece of art that belongs in a gallery, as well as on iconic roads around the world. Sure, the iconic Maserati Trident logo is here, sitting front and center on the grille. It’s a symbol that only the most powerful Maserati vehicles receive.
The headlights are inspired by those found on the MC20. The Trident logo leads to lineal speedlines from the grille rearward along the hood. A below-bumper splitter helps keep the front wheels firmly planted as the car slices through the wind. A clamshell hood covers what’s underneath, with three traditional portholes at the cutline. One thing is certain: the latest version of this good looking Italian is still turning heads.
As we mentioned above, the Maserati GranTurismo is motivated by a detuned version of the MC20’s twin turbocharged V6. It is a powerful mill that has its origins in Formula 1. The base V6 engine offers more horsepower than the V8 that last appeared in the 2019 GranTurismo. In base Modena trim, this V6 makes 483 horsepower. Step up to the Trofeo for a boost to 542 horsepower. Both mate to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. A manual transmission is not available.
Both models are equipped with a standard air suspension. Its settings range from Comfort to Sport mode, which softens or firms up the ride quality as desired. This is achieved through firmer suspension settings, heavier steering and a beefier exhaust soundtrack.
The GranTurismo includes launch control, which transforms the car into a fighter jet launched from an aircraft carrier. With the 483 hp V6, 0-60 mph comes in 3.7 seconds. Stepping up to the Trofeo will see the GranTurismo do the deed in 3.5 seconds. At the end of it all, Brembo high-performance brakes help to tame this beast once again, following a spirited run.
There’s so much more to come and we haven’t even scratched the surface. The Maserati GranTurismo is one of the most elegant sports cars on the road today. Contact the Napleton Maserati dealership near you to find out more about this exceptional motorcar today!
The new Maserati GranTurismo is available in two trim levels. Base Modena and the high-performance Trofeo line. The two levels offer a perfect combination of Luxury and Sport. Choose from a variety of interior trims and performance bits ranging from forged wheels, racier exterior trim and an electronic locking differential. This way, you’ll make the GranTurismo truly your own.
Sumptuous Italian leather hides cover the Maserati’s interior and makes a statement with its contrasting tones. The Trident logo reappears in various locations inside, including the four hand-stitched headrests. Rear seat passengers can access their buckets by the electrically sliding front seats. There’s more room than in the previous model, but let’s be honest, the rear buckets are best suited for those younger members or even some cargo.
