WHAT IS THE MASERATI GHIBLI?

Today’s Maserati Ghibli is the perfect example of four-door luxury in a performance sedan. The Ghibli is expertly balanced to provide comfort for five and spine-tingling power and performance. Designed as a four-door, grand touring sedan, its long nose and short rear overhang display the art’s current state in Grand Touring automobiles. The new Ghibli from Napleton Maserati of Downers Grove includes a luxurious interior with handcrafted leather and silk appointments. The Ghibli commands respect and a second look from passers-by through its use of dynamically-sculpted curves and gracefully flowing lines that start from the center-mounted Trident logo and flow rearward. Finally, the driver’s instrument panel is complete with a 7-inch TFT display screen mounted between the large speedometer and tachometer. It is also equipped with smartphone connectivity via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

And if the roar from the Maserati-designed engines are not enough, consider taking advantage of available advanced audio systems like a 900-watt, 10-speaker Harman/Kardon Audio System or the 15-speaker, 1,280-watt 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Ultra-Premium sound system.

MASERATI GHIBLI PERFORMANCE

HOW DOES THE POWER PLAY?

Three Maserati Ghibli models are in play. The base Ghibli is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine making 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This engine can achieve a zero-to-60 mph time in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 166 mph.

Buyers can also choose the more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that bangs out 424 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. This powerful Ghibli engine option is available on the Moden trim level. All three models transfer its torque to the front and rear axle via a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with limited-slip differential. In the case of the Modena, 0-to-60 mph is achieved in 4.9 seconds, with a top end of 178 mph, while the all-wheel-drive version (Modena Q4) performs the same feat in 4.7 seconds, again with a top speed of 178 mph. The AWD Drive system operates primarily with a rear-drive bias. If necessary, the Modena Q4 can divert up to 50-percent of its torque to the front axle for improved traction as needed. If you buy a Maserati Ghibli Modena Q4, you’ll be in good company: The Modena Q4 accounts for nearly 70-percent of total Maserati sedan sales in the US Market.

The most powerful trim option of all the Ghibli’s is the Trofeo. The Maserati Ghibli Trofeo and its V8 engine boasts impressive performance numbers such as 580hp, acceleration of 4.0 seconds, and a max speed of 203mph.

As it continues to this day, the Maserati Ghibli is the brand’s best-selling entry into the mid-sized luxury executive segment that it had abandoned for more than twenty years. Built in Italy at Maserati’s Giovanni Agnelli Plant near Turin, the Ghibli includes an identical suspension found in the larger Maserati Quattroporte sedan. This system includes the optional “Skyhook” adjustable air suspension, which adapts to varying road conditions on the fly.
