Maserati GranTurismo Near Downers Grove, IL

Maserati GranTurismo Downers Grove, IL

The Maserati GranTurismo is the vehicle for those desiring luxurious, high-speed transportation in a stylishly-personalized fashion. In fact, the GranTurismo is all about fashion and style, in a way that the Italians are famous for. Designed as a coupe or convertible, the GranTurismo is the descendant of the 1950's era Maserati A6 Spyder GT. While that classic no longer has a regular presence on the Autostrada, this modern-day GranTurismo is available today at Napleton's Maserati of Downers Grove.

The new GranTurismo Convertible is a sleek Italian, complete with race-bred high-performance technology, alluring good looks, and mind-numbing speed. Featuring a Ferrari-sourced powertrain with an intoxicating growl when you step on its tail, you will find every excuse to take the long way home.

Maserati GranTurismo Design

The GranTurismo Delivers

The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible delivers with supermodel good looks. The GranTurismo is a piece of art that has crossed the threshold from the gallery to streets around the World. Its design cues are unmistakable. Begin with the iconic Maserati Trident logo, which sits front and center in the grille. It's a symbol that only the most powerful Maserati vehicles receive.

Below the bumper is a front splitter, an aerodynamic device to help keep the front wheels firmly planted as the car slices through the wind. Piercing bi-xenon headlights with LED daylight running lights (DRL) keep the GranTurismo visible in the daytime as if that were a concern. This Sexy Italian is guaranteed to turn heads, regardless and is available in GranTurismo Sport and GranTurismo MC trim levels.

The new GranTurismo draws design inspiration from the past, specifically from models like the 1959-1961 Birdcage Maserati. Fluid shapes flow from the front fenders to the rear flanks and set the GranTurismo apart from just about any other sport convertible. At the rear, an all-new bumper design combines wrap-around styling with an under-bumper diffuser tray for rapid air extraction when combined with the front splitter.

Maserati GranTurismo Interior

The Inside Line

The new Maserati GranTurismo is the perfect combination of Luxury and Sport. It's best to think of it as a gourmet dish made from a recipe combining the right amount of perfect ingredients. When done correctly, the results will dance on your tongue! The fun starts with a steering wheel and gearshift paddle levers wrapped in available Alcantara trim. Allowing you to get a grip on things, the GranTurismo's hydraulic power steering helps the driver to exploit the formidable handling capabilities of the Maserati's suspension. The rest of the vehicle's dynamics are well-sorted and designed to provide a comfortable, yet sporty ride.

Sumptuous Italian leather covers the Maserati's interior and makes a statement with its contrasting hides. Inside, the Trident logo reappears in various locations, including the four hand-stitched headrests. Rear seat passengers can access their buckets by the electrically-sliding front seats. In between is a pull-down armrest complete with two "American-sized" cupholders, courtesy lights and climate controls that offer enhanced rear seating comfort.
The interior of the Maserati GranTurismo combines to offer the best in sporting comfort to those who appreciate the feeling of being coddled at speed. With a blend of athletic agility and luxurious comfort, not to mention sublime leathers, it will be as though you are wearing a fine Italian suit, held on by a seatbelt.

A Dynamic Sporting Machine

When asked to describe the GranTurismo, we have replied, "it's like the Mona Lisa on four 20-inch Pirelli tires." Like that other piece of art by Da Vinci, the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible and GranTurismo Convertible MC are themselves rolling pieces of art. In this case, though, the artistry extends under the hood as well. This topless GT is equipped with a Maserati-designed and Ferrari-built 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine. It produces 454 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Strengthened to handle its extra power, the Maserati's chassis has been reinforced using motorsport-derived technology to handle the excessive loads it will likely encounter at full-roar.

From a strictly auditory standpoint, the Maserati GranTurismo is a smooth performer capable of shrieking like a Formula 1 racer heading for the Niki Lauda curve at the Austrian Grand Prix. There is nothing else like the sound of a naturally-aspirated Italian-built V8 engine.

The power is transmitted to the GranTurismo's ZF MC six-speed auto-shift gearbox. A driver can adjust to their comfort level with drive mode settings ranging from Auto-Normal, Auto-Sport, Manual-Normal, Manual-Sport and ICE modes. These modes are as subtle or as hard-edged as your driving moods may be.

The GT's rev-matching feature will only serve to enhance the feeling. By squeezing the throttle and blipping the paddle shift levers during a turn, you'll hear a subtle pop and gurgle that will satisfy on a variety of emotional levels.

Maserati engineers have designed the GranTurismo with a near-perfect weight bias by placing the engine slightly behind the front axle. This balances the GranTurismo with optimal grip, great steering and extreme directional stability. The available Maserati Skyhook sport damping system is an airshock system that constantly monitors the road conditions as they happen, firming up or softening the suspension as needed.

The GranTurismo Convertible and Convertible MC can surge from zero to 62 miles per hour, in 5.0 and 4.9 seconds with maximum speeds of 179 and 181 mph, respectively. At the end of it all, Brembo high-performance brakes help to tame this beast once again, following a spirited run.
